Household fund

Just out of interest how much do you put into a household maintenance pot every month? If I am honest we are hit and miss but I want to start building up a contingency pot to cover and big jobs that come up and not sure what to aim for. Clearly we are constrained by what we have but just wondering what everyone else does...

We both contribute to a housekeeping fund for shopping, bills, etc and any surplus stays there or is spent on whatever is needed - so far in our new place we have paid for a stack of garden rubbish to be removed, bought a chainsaw and a pressure washer and some other stuff. Our situation is bit different as we didn't put all our equity from our sale down as deposit. This has left us with a sizeable chunk of cash for the work we need to have done.
