We are in the process of choosing and induction hob for our new kitchen. After much tape measure faffing have concluded can only have a 60cm hob due to space needed above for the hood. I have read that with induction you should always go for a hood which is wider than the actual hob. So unwise to get a 60 hood (there aren't many 70cm ones about!) what with allowing for clearance either side we don't have the space for a 90cm hood.

What size hob/hood combo do you have? And is it efficient enough?

Thanks!

I have never read that and find it quite odd. It shouldn't make any difference. We have had 3 induction hobs and have always had hoods the same size.

I have 2 x 60mm induction hobs serviced by two in-cupboard extractors which work fine.

Forgot to add the in cupboard extractors are 60mm also

600mm! Even Grin

Thanks both. My understanding is that with induction, the vapours travel out and upwards as opposed to directly upwards as with a gas flame.

Never noticed....

We have 600 induction hob and extractor works absolutely fine. I think a wider extractor would look unbalanced.

Heat rises so as long as it's above the hob, then same size hood will be ok .

Thank you, that's reassuring Smile
