What's the best kitchen on a tight budget?

Ours desperately needs doing but can't afford to spend a lot. I like the look of Wren Kitchens and IKEA, are they any good? Or are there other better options?

Right, I've booked a local firm to come out and speak to us so we can get some idea of what might be possible on our budget. I think we're looking at about £5000 as the maximum we could afford, does that sound at all doable or do I need to brace myself for making some compromises?!
