New bathroom flooring angst

Previous owners put down very thin vinyl tiles and then have put silicon all around the edges of the room (?)
Anyway, it's now apparent we need to replace it - odd white marks on it that I can't shift (tried all sorts of products)
Would tiles or sheet vinyl be better?
Will it be a nightmare getting the silicon off? Will we need to re do the silicon?
Argh

You can peel silicone off but I'm sure you can buy chemicals to help the process. It does add neatness to the edges though and a little bit of protection to the skirting.

We've just taken our kitchen vinyl up and it was a total cunt of a job because the builders stuck it down with glue all over.

I can find my cheap tile website if you'd prefer ceramic tiles.

Rubber floors can look nice, very modern. It's so hard to choose things for houses.

Right, if it's definitely vinyl you want Google vinyl offcuts. Or eBay and filter using local collection only.

Silicones cheap enough to buy.

Tiles could let water in & then your substrate could be damaged.

Bamboo is ok for bathrooms too, or cork.

We're about to have vinyl planks put down over old tilrs that the previoys owners put down. They were cheap in B&Q and if you know an oap they can get an extra 10% off as well.
Our bathroom fitter said that sometimes with planks you can get away without underlay whilst with standard vinyl you'll nearly always need it. It depends on your current floor situation but underlay can add up cost wise.
I'm yet to see how well (or not) the vinyl planks work!!

Look for cushioned vinyl. Rhino floor is good. We got a discontinued remnant that was enough to do a good size bathroom for less than £50

Not cheap but better quality and better environmentally is marmoleum. (What we used in our bathroom and toilet).

It's only about 2 X 2 m so not a huge space
