No air bricks in the extension

Is it reasonably common to build a ground floor brick extension without air bricks along the base?

Depends on the construction of the floor. If it is a solid concrete floor then you don't need air bricks. If it is a suspended timber floor, joists and floor boards, then yes there should be airbricks.

Yes, it's a suspended timber floor. I assume it's got planning sign off but I gather solicitor will confirm this.

Can air bricks be retrofitted?

Yes, we didnt get completion as builder didnt out one in so hubby just swapped a normal brick to one, easy job.
