How long does outline planning permission take?

I can't find any guidelines other than 8 weeks for approval/ rejection of full permission.
Does anyone know if there are agreed timescales?

An outline app (for a minor development) is also 8 weeks for a decision. If approved there will be a condition stating when the reserved matters must be sought by.

As said above, 8 weeks is the deadline. You can appeal for non detirmination if you haven't got an answer after 8 weeks...

But an appeal will take about 6 months.

Thanks both. It's not for me but one of the buyers in our chain. They said it will only take 2 weeks but I'm not sure where they've got this from.
