Landlords - is it possible to end my tenancy early?

I currently am 5 months into a 12 month lease of an 2nd floor apartment.

An elderly member of my family is getting frail and can no longer look after her dog.
To save the dog from a shelter I would like to take her on.

This would require moving to a suitable house instead of 2nd floor apartment.

I have no break clause in my tenancy.

Is there any way that the landlord might let me end the tenancy early?

anything is possible by negotiation. The landlord doesn't have to let you leave early but if you offer to pay costs of remarketing, allow viewings etc etc and he/she gets a long-term tenant, it's worth an ask.

Before you start, look into the practicalities of renting with a dog though; you may find it quite difficult.
