What does replacing cavity wall ties involve?

I need to get some more quotes. First one is about £2k. Which makes me think it isn't a huge job.

I wonder if anyone knows what the job involves? I'm wondering in context of whether to get it done before we move in. How many days work, how disruptive etc? Will there be internal work, eg, requiring replastering or is all the work on outside of building.

Thanks.

Just had it done on our house. Everything happened externally although I believe it is possible for interior finishes to sometimes be affected (cracks etc).

It took 5-6 days for a 2/3-man team to do ours but apparently this was unusually long because it's a detached house so lots of wall, and our bricks are crazy hard - the team supervisor said they would normally take 2-3 days. Lots of very noisy drilling and brick dust.

If they need scaffolding that bumps up the price.
