Where to Live in Leeds

Hello everyone)
Me and my husband are expecting a baby this Fall.
We've been living in Leeds for 2 years.
Now we are looking for a house to buy. As we are first time buyers, we are looking for something up to 150k.
I'm becoming desperate in choosing the location. Confused Could someone give any advise?
We've been looking in Tinshill/Coockridge; Moortown and Bramley.
Does anyone know something about these areas? I see some bad reviews about Bramley, but I believe there must be some nice areas there...

I would personally avoid Bramley. Which part of the city do you both need to be for work/ DC schools? etc..

Look at East Leeds LS15 - Colton &Whitkirk - you can get a 2 bed maybe 3 bed for that money. Good links into city for work (9mins on train from cross gates), buses shops etc and about to get a new leisure complex. Temple newsam lovely with kids.

Or to get even more for your money Garforth?

Thanks !
We work in Hunslet, but we have a car, so all up to 30 min drive is fine.
I'm more concerned about how safe the area is, how good, quiet, and clean is it.

Not sure your budget will stretch to Cookridge.

BikeRunSki · 08/06/2016 18:04

Would you consider Wakefield? - or slightly further out Barnsley/Huddersfield? The new M1 smart motorway has made a lot of places closer, especially if you live to the south of the city and are only going to Hunslet.

I live in the countryside between Wakey/Barnsley/Hudds and it now only takes me 35 mins to get to work (near Crown Point).

@BikeRunSki
Would you recommend Cookridge as safe and nice area? (Is Tinshill a part of Cookridge?)
I found something there, it requires a lot of work. But if the area is worth that, we may consider to go for it

East Ardsley, Morley and Rothwell are popular amongst my colleagues.

I don't know N Leeds very well, but I understand than Cookridge is a sought after area. No sure you'd get to Hunslet in 30 mins though. Do you work at FD ?

thisisbloodyridiculous · 08/06/2016 18:12

Cookridge is lovely OP but I would've thought out of your budget. Go view the place & see if its got anything obviously wrong with it for it to be so cheap!

@thisisbloodyridiculous
We have had a viewing already.
For the first sight nothing critical
But requires kitchen and bathroom refurb/replacement.
And it is not insulated!

@BikeRunSki we live not too far from Kirkstall now, so takes up to 30min to get to work. Working in a factory.

We have recently moved to Morley and the area is really nice. Easy to get into town as well.
