Wooden flooring in bathroom

Dh was having a conniption fit last night when ds spilled water on the floor during his bath. Apparently it was quite a lot, and he was worried about it dripping between the cracks and onto the ceiling below.

Does anyone have flooring like this in their bathrooms? Is there a genuine concern from puddles, or is it just burst pipes we need to worry about?

I'd be happy to cover the floor with laminate, but it is very pretty!

I'd be concerened, but i think i'd just put a used towel beside the bath whilst bathing rather than cover it up.

Water can also get into the wood and make it swell which then might make the wood expand. if there isn't expansion room around the edges or between the boards you might end up with ridges where the wood meets.

IMO wood is plain daft in a bathroom. I'm sure it looks very nice, but you have to be practical, esp. if you've got kids. There are some very nice looking wood effect waterproof floorings available, if you want that look.

A lot of people like Karndean, , which is relatively expensive, but probably wouldn't be ruinous unless you have a huge bathroom.
