Anyone has had a utility/Belfast sink installed?

Hi all, I would like to install a Belfast/Butler sink in our "spare" toilet downstairs. All our sinks in the house are tiny and have low taps so I can never fit a bowl/bucket. I need somewhere I can hand wash clothes/fill up a buckets/etc. Where I come from all houses have a large utility room sink and I am going mad without one! :))

Ideally I would have this installed in the utility room but there's no enough space in it so it will have to replace the sink in the small toilet downstairs.

A Belfast/butler sink seems to be what I am looking for (would have to go for the baby version as the larger size would not fit) but I'd like to hear from those of you who have one/had one installed.

Do I buy the sink with the stand and then ask a builder to install it? How much do you think this would cost me? Should I contact a builder or a plumber or both? I think we will need to move the radiator to accommodate the larger sink/cabinet. Has anyone got any recommendation?
Also, has anyone had a Butler sink installed outside as opposed to inside their house?

Your neighbour is lucky! I would love to have one in the garden too, eventually (would need to have hot water too though!)!!

you will want some high neck taps to help get a bucket under.

older houses used to have bib taps on the wall rather than the sink (and AFAIK Belfast and London taps did not have a deck where taps could go anyway)

We did but as part of turning the downstairs bathroom into an utility room. Love the thing but no idea of installation cost as part of a much larger project... Got a high tap online for not too much.

randomsabreuse our tiny downstairs bathroom and equally tiny utility room (which barely fits a washing machine and tumble dryer) are ajoint but separate. The thought did cross my mind that we could knock down a wall and make one bigger utility room, but need to investigate further (pipes, etc). Out of curiosity, how much did your project cost and who did you use? (husband thinks I am mad but he doesn't spend all day in the house nor he has to clean/wash while holding a screaming baby :( (that's for another topic!)

I think we spent 4k on labour ripping out old (leaking) downstairs bathroom and turning into utility, replacing bizarre (no door, leaking) ensuite and putting in a family bathroom in a single bedroom above the utility but tbh I haven't looked as overall project included groundworks, reskimming about half the house, rewiring 80% repainting everywhere, recarpeting and dealing with other moneypit disasters and I don't really want to know!

Baby arrived towards the end of the project and the butler's sink is used for everything from soaking baby clothes to washing boots as well as filling buckets. It had to be the mini one as initially we were hoping just to replace the bath with utility stuff but found dry rot so the hand wash sink is huge compared to what it should be!
