Building completion certificate or Electrical Safety Certificate or both

Long story short. Our builder ran away at the end of the building process due to gambling... So we are not able to get the electrical safety certificate from the electrician.

The council building inspector came last Friday and said he wouldn't issue the building completion certificate unless we showed him the electrical certificate, which we don't have.

To our surprise, the inspector sent us the complete certificate this morning. Obviously he forgot about electrical certificate at all.

My question is if we already have the building completion certificate, do we still need to have the electrical certificate when it comes to sell the property?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, at least I was asked for mine when we sold in Feb.

One way round is to get another electrician in to inspect the wiring and provide a safety certificate.

It's always worth getting one from another electrician even if you're not planning to sell - you want to know for your own sake that the wiring is up to scratch and not likely to cause any damage or injury. Make sure that whoever checks it over is NICEIC-accredited.
