Building Regulations - Full Plans route or Notice route?

We are planning a simple (so the architect says) single storey extension. We are keen to start building ASAP so Building Notice route of 48 hours seems preferable to submitting Full Plans route that can take up to 8 weeks. are we naive wanting to go the Notice route? I know we'd need to ensure our builder was up to date with building control regulations etc & get it written everything to be included in the quote. What do you think?

I did a pretty large complex extn via building notice and as long as you have your builder contractually on the hook to meet building regs then you should be ok. Make sure that as well Architects plans, you also have Structural engineer calcs / designs for steels / timber sizes though as your builder will expect to be given them.
