Swimming pool regulations?

Does anyone know what the swimming pool regulations are in the UK?

Specifically:

What size pool falls under regulations
What can you use to stop children getting access to the pool
Are there pool covers that are design to be safer than others

there appear not to be any safety regs in the UK, although there are building control regs.

to keep the kids out - fence and lock.
pool covers aren't for safety

and remember that in the UK a pool REMOVES value from your house.

What specialsubject said.

Pool covers are not for safety - in fact flexible pool covers are highly dangerous if a child walks on them and slips through a gap (a bit like getting stuck under ice).

FWIW In Australia the legal requirement is complete enclosure with a fence and locked gate for access.

I've also known of more than one incident where the family dog has drowned under the cover.
