painting our front door black?

hello

we have a 1890s house. It has original wooden flush casement windows with black frames and white casement. Our front door is currently painted racing car green at the bottom with white on the edging. The door furniture is brass. I am considering painting the green part of the door in black, to give the whole front of house a sense of flow.

Would you do something different?

Sounds good. If it need painting and you aren't keen on the green then do it. We have an Edwardia house with a black and white front door. Works with the windows.

What direction does your house face? I had a black front door on my 1875 house and it looked fab but it was south facing and it didn't stand up well to all the sun. The paint blistered and flaked.

Your house sounds lovely btw. I miss my old house.

Thank you. Our front door faces east so doesn't get the strong midday sun at least. I figure if it's horrible black we can re paint it. It's not irreversible... I think it will be nice though ..
