Blind inspiration needed, please!

What sort of style and colour blind would you put up in this kitchen? (excuse the mess!)

The window is 175cm wide, we had a white Venetian blind in the old kitchen which was OK. As our new kitchen is very plain (that splashback is the only colour in there at the moment) we were thinking of changing to a roller blind with a subtle pattern, but all the fabrics we like only come up in 134cm widths. And would 175cm width of pattern be overwhelming? The floor is Karndean, piazza limestone (2nd pic).

I'm completely useless at design / colour / visualising stuff so I need help, please!

I recently looked at blinds2go and the width I needed was 168, they could do that. They are doing free blackout lining at the mo too.

I think a subtle pattern if you really want one but tbh I'd choose plain, maybe with grain or texture to the fabric.

Did you end up getting one from blinds2go lorelei9here? One of my concerns about a roller is that it might sag in the middle with such a wide recess.

I love your kitchen. Personally with all that plain I'd go for a bold pattern. I have Poppy's on my blinds and I love them.

But my folks have a roller blind that width, they do ha e wall to attach it to so it's got clip support along the back rail

Their blind has been in place for years so I doubt they'll remember where they got it but I think you will find a few suppliers with that width.

Beautiful windows.... I would try to find roller blinds as the windows are feature in itself.
with venetian blinds the temptation of leaving them down will hide the beauty.

I helped a friend make a 180cm Roman blind to go above a kitchen window like that. It was hung outside the recess, so when concertina'd up, the lower edge just hid the top of the recess. You make it by centering one width of fabric and adding matching panels each side. You can do this with Roman blinds but on roller blinds the joins will stop it rolling smoothly. A work around is to get a fabric that can be "hung" sideways (ie. not a vertical pattern). I think they use a heavy duty tube for wide roller blinds.

Obviously you only see a bit of the pattern when the blind is open, and at night it livens things up to have a splash of pattern on view. I'd go for the one you like.

Ooh I'd go for either a striped or patterned Roman blind with a bit of that green splash back colour in. Definitely Roman not roller imo.

This is the Roman blind I made for our living room - it does fold higher up I just didn't bother this morning! I can't remember where I bought the fabric but I just googled wide curtain fabric and found it. Then I bought a Roman blind kit. All cost less than £100.

I've looked at the Velcro suggestion but two new problems
One is the cost of the blind, if it doesn't stay up with Velcro I'll have spent nearly £100 on something I can't use
Two is the companies I've found, the depth of the rod thingy is 5cm, it needs to be a max of 3cm or I won't be able to get the door next to it to slide open. If anyone has any advice I'd be grateful. Really I need a stick on material toggle blind but that doesn't seem to exist.

John Lewis have all sorts of lovely ones in wider measurements.
Bird on a wire was my favourite when we did our kitchen last year. In the end we got plain grey blinds from Ikea and introduced colour with some prints.

We tend to use Tuiss for Roman blinds. I can make my own but by the time I've paid for the mechanism and all the bits there isn't too much difference.

I could never even contemplate making my own blind SPT - when it comes to sewing I am all thumbs (at school I got a D- for Home Ec & it took me a whole academic year to make a nightie out of 4 pieces of fabric and a ribbon ).
