Tell me your house viewing stories

House just gone on market and starting to look at suitable properties.
Tell me about your experiences viewing other peoples properties,any weird /difficult buyers viewing yours
Also wondering if vendors generally mind you viewing their property more than once?

Only one time it was excruciatingly embarrassing was when I'd forgotten the clocks had gone back and the potential viewers turned up on the doorstep and the house wasn't presentable. Asked them to come back in 15 minutes, which they did. I ran around the house, thought I'd done a good job until they left and went upstairs, Sitting in the middle of our bed was the inside of the bathroom bin (had taken it out to empty then got sidetracked) complete with snotty tissues, used dental floss, you can imagine.

When we viewed houses there was one were there was a turd in a unflushed toilet, ugh. Another where there was still someone in bed . One with a bathroom so grimy I couldn't believe anyone would let other people see it, let alone when trying to sell a house. Oh, and the one with the bedroom that stank of cheesy feet (I think that was the same house where there was someone in bed in another room). And there was one where the vendor (son of deceased elder woman selling her house) decided to have a fry-up while we were looking round the kitchen and the smoking fat was so much that the EA was coughing on the fumes while trying to tell us about the house. You'd think we were looking at slum houses from that wouldn't you, rather than naice 4-bed detached houses, but as they say you just don't realise what goes on behind closed doors. On the other hand, some houses were beautiful and immaculate, but just not right for other reasons.

As far as I'm aware, we didn't have any weird/difficult potential buyers - the EA did all the viewings. We didn't have anyone view more than once except the couple of made an offer. We didn't view the one we bought more than once.

We viewed a house belonging to the creepy couple.

The followed us around, grinning inanely and kept suddenly reappearing like the sisters in The Shining.

I thought they were going to kill us, eat our faces and bury our remains in the walls.

When the estate agent rang for feedback I could only manage a terrified and slightly indignant squeaky noise.

Didn't buy that house.

Our sellors had fresh coffee brewing (nobody ever drank it), i hate the smell of coffee :)

We went to view a house but the EA said that the vendors had gone away for the weekend. My mum came with us and as soon as we walked in she exclaimed "Oh my god it looks as if it's been burgled." It hadn't, but there were toys and clothes strewn everywhere, everywhere you went you had to step over stuff. It was such a state that I couldn't actually tell you anything about the house itself, and I am no neat freak by any stretch of the imagination. .

Another one we turned up one minute early, and the vendor pointed this out to us in no uncertain terms. Before we then were permitted to look round the house he stood with us in the living room and proceeded to ask us why we had been looking at other houses and not just his one. he was very off putting, and hovered behind us the whole way around the house. When we left he let his dog out of the car and it chased us off the premises. We left to the calls of "come back here asbo." . When I called the EA to give feedback I recommended that the agents accompany the viewings because he really wasn't selling his property and was very intimidating. She said that it wasn't the first time they'd had that kind of feedback but he refused to let the estate agents even accompany viewings. The house had been on the market for two years.

Oh I have viewed many and seen some stuff. Most are lovely and tidy etc but I have had grown up son in bed at 2pm; rat traps in obvious sight (please just put the things away); bags of rubbish in the porch; hanging clothes on door frames because their was no storage; and the one house I viewed with my mum and an EA and the house stank of the 2 enormous alsatians that were locked in the garden. I really almost vomited and had to exit the house before retching (this was more than just general dog smell) ; and how can I forget the one with the cat poo all over the carpet in two bedrooms. Literally piles in various stages of decomposition/mould coverage.
