HI all

I am in the midst of part exchange my 1980s house to Taylor wimpey with new build. We just go our eicr report with c2 rating due to the electrical standard that was use during 1980s and now does not comply to 2008 standard. Do you fix it? They already got a buyer for my house.

I would not have thought so. You do not need to upgrade the electrics just because they no longer conform, but any new work would need to be done to current standards.

We were going to p/x a 1980s house with TW, and nothing was mentioned about updating electrics/plumbing/windows, so I'd check to be sure, but I think you'll be ok. We only didn't p/x in the end because we found a buyer.

That good. I am worried now. There is no rcd on my main fuse box and all of my neighbour on my streets got the same fuse box as me. At which stage did you pull out from your part exchange?

just before we were due to sign the p/x paperwork, and only because the buyer was willing to rent the house back to us until ours was built.

Actually, the house was a p/x when we bought it - it was being sold by Barratts, I'd forgotten that til now, and they obviously hadn't cared about the 80s wiring and stuff either!
