Alternative to magnolia...

We're in the process of buying a house that will need a fair bit of work, although most of it can be done over time.

It does need a bit of freshening up, and I was thinking of repainting the walls - but rather than having to decide on colour schemes now, I was going to just paint it all one colour (because we'll probably end up redecorating after various bits of work have been done).

So the plan was to get a few of those massive tubs and just paint it all. Except all I can see is magnolia. Which I really don't want.

Can anyone suggest an alternative?

Robotandpenguin I have literally more than 20 recently purchased "off white" testers Blush which you'd be very welcome to if you're in the right part of the country! We've gone for b & q cotton flower everywhere Smile

I've just painted a room with Dulux cotton white after starting off with the trade white and then realising it was too stark. The cotton white still looks white but a little bit warmer.

They do big tubs of dulux natural calico, it's an inoffensive cream colour.

I'd check what comes in the big 10L tubs and go for one of them.

Our house is painted entirely in a wickes trade paint which is described as ivory. It's off-white verging towards grey, no yellow. If it's intended to be a stop gap I wouldn't waste too much time on comparing various shades of off white, just find something cheapish that you can buy in big tubs!

Natural Calico and natural Hessian in our house, often with a splash of colour on a feature wall

Sincere apologies. I haven't checked this thread for a few days so missed your kind offer. Been staying away from the "I'm on" tab as I was worried about inadvertently seeing a Walking Dead spoiler.

Our walls are currently splodged with 50 shades of magnolia but I think we've decided on Natural Calico. Thanks for the offer though. I love the usefulness and kindness of MN and I'm very glad I joined this thread!

Msrisotto, I painted our south-facing bedroom in Dulux White Cotton. I would describe the colour as white with a hint of magnolia.
