How the heck do you change the filter in Miele Dogs&Cats vacuum?

Just so frustrating! I have only got the instruction manual for the rurbo brush but not the rest - either lost when moving or was never there?
The vacuum suction became really bad so I've changed the bag today - and yes it was full, but that still didn't help much. Then I've noticed that the 'Clean Air' large blacj filter is very dirtu/dusty and needs changing. Was very pleased to find the spare white insert in box - that's the insert. But for love no menoy I can't open the pesky box! just WHY does it have to hard?? I've triewd in the end to prize the top thin part with scissors and have broken a couple of plastic thin dividers between the circular bits/net. Still can't open. A few granules came out - not sure if I now spoiled it or is it just dirt.

If anyone can give me a clue? I ve gone on to hoover without the air fresh filter - suction is great but not sure if it's ok to do that, and also the ( just changed) bag indicator shows red.

Some of the filters don't come apart and are replaced in their entirety. Only some of the filters can open to put the white filter bit that comes in the box

www.vacuum-manual.com/manuals/miele/Miele_S_6220.pdf - I think you need a whole new plastic filter. The White bit in the box is not for the black filter

the cat and dog filter comes as a rigid cartridge, you change the whole thing, it does not open. There are various filter options, on some of them the plastic holder can be opened and a new pad put in.

similar to this

thank you so much! I first did think that the whole thing would need replacing - bt then found the insert in the original vacuum's box saying on it 'Air Clean filter only' - hence I thought there is a way! Why would they supply it otherwise?
There is a small insert for the other side filter - so I haven't took one for the other.

So was it safe using the vacuum without the filter? the suction improved no end!

Does anyone know where to buy Miele filters like this, or is tere a universal one that would fit?

Thank you!

m.miele.co.uk/domestic/product-selection-of-vacuum-cleaner-filters-1841.htm or 8 have also bought from espares too. They do compatible ones but I've never tried them and have used the miele ones

The whole thing has to be replaced. The box of spare bags contains two filters, one of which isn't for use with the cat and dog. I have a cat and dog Miele, and the plastic filter is replaced whole. The filter you are talking about is included in the box because the box covers lots of different models, but it isn't for c&d models.

You can find the filters on Amazon if it's easier to order from them.

LovePGtipsMonkey · 30/03/2016 00:24

ah ok Thomas - I just assumed they would only include if relevant.
Thanks all! at least I'm relieved that I'm not so incapable that I can't open a box - it's not meant to be opened ha.
