Cluster house

Does anyone have any experience of living in a cluster (back to back) house which is East facing? I'm considering buying one but the east aspect bothers me and I cant quite put my finger on why. I'm thinking possible lack of light and maybe damp problems because the sun goes off quickly. I may have a skewed view though so experiences are welcome.

It would always be dark, even if it wasn't damp. I wouldn't... it might look okish in spring/summer but by the time winter comes you'll know about it. You'll need lights on all day unless you have floor to ceiling windows.

It wouldn't necessarily be dark all day. The east-facing back of our house gets lovely light all morning. But that may not be when you actually want the light, and it's not usually warm at that time.

Thanks for the replies and helping to clarify my thoughts.

It would get some light of course, and it does have floor to ceiling windows downstairs funnily enough!

I don't feel I'd be so unsure if it was west facing, and I have no qualms about north facing gardens, but I'm uncomfortable with the entire house and garden facing north or east.

I live in one which is east facing. It's lovely in the mornings but it does annoy me that there is nowhere to sit in the evening. I've been known to take a chair and sit on the pavement on the opposite side of the road!

Our house faces east and we get lovely morning sunshine till about noon, then the back garden gets sunny. And then at around 4 pm (dependent on season obviously) the front of the house gets really bright again because the sun seems to reflect onto the (white fronted) houses across the road from us and the light bounces into our house. It was lovely in the summer as our lounge stayed nice and cool but I guess we still had our west facing garden to go to if we wanted sun.
