Kitchen carcasses

I've ordered a bespoke painted kitchen from diykitchens in F&B Dovetale. (pale grey) The carcase they recommend is oak. However, the only unpainted wood in the kitchen will be a dark,almost greyish wood tabletop and I'm worried that the two different woods really won't go together. The company has tried to reassure me that the oak won't be on show at all when the cupboards are shut but I know it'll still really bug me when I open them! Should I go for a white carcase as that's what the other main colour in the kitchen will be? But the guy at diykitchens seemed to hint that that would cheapen the look of a solid wood kitchen.
Any thoughts under be much appreciated.

I think you should follow the company's advice. When you open the cupboards, you'll be really close to them so you won't be looking at the whole room. Unless you plan to leave all the cupboards open (!), I think it's very unlikely you'll notice it. If you can afford a solid wood kitchen, it will look lovely and much better than a painted white/melamine carcass, IMHO.

You really can't see any of the oak when the doors are shut, even with the few mm gap. But it looks nice when you open the unit. If you have too dark a finish you won't find anything in the back of cupboards. We have oak effect caracases and dark wood worktops I can't say I really felt there was a mis match. Like underwear theyr'e not normally on show but you should like how they look anyway.
