Best white paint for north-facing kitchen diner

I want it white white and I've looked at too many whites that are really not-quite-white-but-white.

Any thoughts? I'm v new to this house-painting lark. I have a painter/decorator doing the work, but he wants me to pick what I like.

I'd go for a buttery white as it will be warm looking, any hint of blue and it will be dull and greyish. We are having a new kitchen, duck egg blue gloss units, pale oak worktop with buttercream tiles and paintwork, plus Portland stone effect flooring. We are north east facing and only get the sun in the kitchen in the mornings. Homebase have 2 tins of dulux for £24 on offer atm.

Your new kitchen sounds lovely! Absolutely everything in ours is white, with the exception of oak worktops. I'll check out some buttery-tone whites - thank you

I tried the MN favourite in mine and it was too yellow. I ended up with good old brilliant white and it looks great. My units are Wimborne White but for some reason even that didn't work on the walls.

What are your windows like?

Our kitchen diner is north facing but has glass bifold doors and a coupe of skylights. It's painted white-white (was decorated by previous owners but pretty sure it's brilliant white or trade white or similar). Looks really good I think.

Warm white light bulbs will help keep a warm feel too !

If it is North Facing and will get no sun, you had better get a water-based gloss, rather than oil-based. Although frying and roasting fumes in a kitchen to tend to make paint go yellow. Water paints tend to be less glossy and durable.
