Plumbing/boiler/shower question.

Will my Worcester Bosch 34 CDI Greenstar combi boiler support a shower requiring a minimum 1.5 bar.

I would like to buy the hansgrohe raindance select shower set with the large overhead head and the movable head. I've had differering opinions from two bathroom suppliers. Any advice appreciated. Thanks

Probably, but it's not down to the boiler, it's down to the pressure and flow provided by your incoming water main.

Thanks for your reply. It's all very confusing. I had a long chat with someone who was adamant that it was entirely down to my boiler! The gauge on the boiler reads 1.5 bar. So I should do a DIY flow test?

yes

the pressure gauge on the boiler suggests you have at least 1.5bar available, but it may drop when the taps are running.

Okay, I've just done a flow test on my kitchen cold tap. I got exactly 7 litres in 30 seconds, so 14 litres per minute. Is this reasonable?

just about reasonable, but try the hot bath tap, which is nearer to what your shower will get. Feel the temperature of the hot water at full flow, if it is too cool you will have to turn down the tap so it warms up.

The hot tap on full throttle is 9 litres per minute with a good temperature, is this good enough?

two gallons a minute, its good for a shower. But if the one you're looking at has a big drencher head, look to see what the manufacturer says about flow. you will get less when it has to squirt through the little holes. If you already have a shower, that will give you an idea.

If there are any service valves or braided flexible connection hoses, replace them with full-bore versions (or 22mm hose with a reducer) when changing, which will be less restricting.

Thanks for all your help. We don't currently have any shower in the property. I will think about reducing the size of the larger over head shower as you mentioned. I don't yet know anything about the valve sizes etc. I'm finding the whole shower buying experience taxing!

LoveGigi - I don't have an answer to your question about the flow; but quick question about the Shower you have selected.

I was looking at that one too, I think. Do you mind me asking how much you have been quoted for it?
I am looking to find a cheaper quotation if possible, have looked at Amazon but still ££
