Kitchen plan advice please

I've got our kitchen planned out, but want to make the island a bit different to the rest of the room. We're having Ikea Bodbyn doors, but for the island I was thinking Jutis which are smoked glass and then I thought about putting them over the hob too...not sure if that'll work though.

Our dining table will go inside the door where there's a slight alcove.

Thanks Smile

Ooh, lovely. I'm never happier than when I'm pottering about on the Ikea kitchen planner.

I'm not convinced by the smoked glass I'm afraid. Do you like the glass Bodbyns?

What wood is your worktop? If you want to ring the changes how about something like the Hyttan, either in glass or solid? I did a fab kitchen a few years ago with a mixture of the textured oak and gloss white. It was lovely.

Also... as you have a bazillion cupboards, I think I'd have a look at them with plainer fronts, such as Veddinge or the gorgeous Voxtorp. You have a lot of 'frame within a frame' going on, if that makes sense.

Yeah the smoked glass might be a bit too much on the wall cupboards alright. I'm looking at oak for the worktops..do you mean to do the island doors in Hyttan? That could be nice alright

And finally, do you think maybe it would be an idea to move your oven to nearer the worktop? It's very symmetrically placed bang in the middle of that run of high units, which I'm not sure looks quite right, plus you're also lifting out hot stuff then needing to carry it to the worktop.

I'll stop now. Blush

Yes, the island doors and the wall units could be in Hyttan. Have you got grey cover panels on the island? I like that, but not completely sure how it would look with Hyttan.

You're right about the Bodbyn being a bit fussy. I don't like the handleless Voxtorp, but the Veddinge is lovely...very cheap though?

I put the oven there purely because it's symmetrical (I do have a problem with that type of thing lol). It would make more sense to swap it with the fridge. I'll have a go at the planner and see how it all looks

I had a little stroke of the Veddinge at the weekend and it does feel classier than the Haggerby, as it has more rounded edges. If you like glossy then Ringhult wears well.
