I'm not at home very often (because I hate my neighbours but that's a whole other story!) so I need an alarm which not only sets off a siren but alerts me when the siren goes off/picks up something on the motion sensor etc..

Have been looking at Samsung or Panasonic ones and cant make up my mind. Have seen good reviews about the ismart alarms too but AFAIK they only work with iphones/ipads and I have android....

Anyone got one of these are they any good? my OH bought me a really good yale alarm for xmas which plugs into the phone line and rings you if it senses an intruder but he didn't realise I didn't have a phone line so I cant use it now...

I have heard that the alarms with a mobile-phone-type SIM often stop working because, if it doesn't make regular calls, the supplier closes the account.

I am quite in favour of the alarms that dial out on a phone landline, see what it would cost to get one (re) connected. My alarm has its own line which is XD and no-one knows.

I am quite happy with the Yale alarms which are easy to install, especially the one that can phone you and other keyholders.

yeah the yale on I have does look really easy to install but I cant use it as I don't have a phone line :-(

not really a fan of the sim ones either for the same reasons you've mentioned...

My alarm has a SIM. I ring into it once a month to check it's working OK. It calls me back and that keeps it valid. And that just costs one text.
