best carpet for house sale?

Argh so boring I know. We are making an entryway/hallway in our house fresh and neutral for resale, on estate agent's advice we are painting the walls magnolia (I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but it makes sense for the room) and trim white, we want a carpet for the stairs (and the rest) that is neutral and cheap... Any ideas? I'm so overwhelmed with it all that I can't face researching it myself!

We moved into a white house painted to flog after rental. Our carpet is brown but it's woven with different shades. It hides a multitude of sins unlike the cream carpet in the master bedroom. I don't like carpet, but we have kept it for now because it dorsnt show anything obvious eg mucky paw prints.

Ideally beige speckled, but tbh I'd just go to carpetright and get something brownish off the cheap rolls, unless you can find a cheap offcut.

Dark grey with whiter walls is another option. The advantage of white in a hallway is you don't have to worry about the difficult edge where the wall and ceiling meet over the stairs.
