Hedge removal

Hello,

I am looking for advice on how to fill in the hole that will be left if I remove the shrub in front of our house. See pic.

I'm concerned that as soon as I get rid of the hedge the foundations will be at risk with all of this rain we have been getting.

Any ideas/suggestions? Am I worrying over nothing?

Thanking in advance

You are worrying over nothing.

If you want to fill the hole, why not some fruit? An apple which you can espalier and strawberries at ground level?

Just put dirt down to fill the hole?

Thank you, I thought I might be over worrying.

I wasn't sure if i just filled it with earth the water would get into the house?

I think I'll do that and maybe add some nice border plants - it will only be temporary until we have the driveway done anyways

What did people do for advice before Mumsnet?! Smile

removing plants that suck up water does increase ground flood risk, as does sticking down more tarmac. Be careful.

Not when they are that small!
