Bathroom help!

So we've finally saved up enough to replace the avocado green suite that has been in our house for far too long, but I'm so confused about showers and it's making my head hurt.

At the moment we have an electric shower but it's on slightly dodgy wiring, was going to replace it with a mixer thing straight from the taps but not sure if we have enough pressure, we don't have central heating (not sure if that makes a difference..)

Can someone help as to what kind of mixer I'd need or should we just sort out the electric shower? Help!!

I've just ordered a victorian style shower from victorian plumbing. Our bathroom fitter told us not to bother with electric. In fact that's the response we've got from most people we asked... we were also left with a very early model electric shower. The wiring was very dangerous according to our spark. AM not sure how this is influenced by your not having central heating, but we were told if we wanted to get a higher pressure, it was better to run it off the boiler, but, not to forget how nice it is to still be able to have a shower if you've got boiler problems is a positive about having an electric one.

You make an excellent point backforgood. We are currently having problems with our hot water. We are fortunate that we have 2 bathrooms so in the event that we have no hot water at all for our power shower in the morning, we will be able to use the electric one in the other bathroom.
