If you had £2.5m to spend on a house, two children (DS and DD), and wanted to be close to a great day prep school or two (private) and near, but not necessarily in, London (up to 1.5 hours away), where would you live and why? We thought we had it all sorted but are realising that we don't. Please help!

Highgate, you would get a decent amount for your money, cute shops cafes, good privates in the area, close to city buzz. Guessing you live in London already from the sounds of it

Sevenoaks. Great houses. Very close to London by train yet still rural. Great senior schools (Sevenoaks/Tonbridge), good prep schools.

West Sussex

Bath, in a beautiful stone townhouse. Or Wiltshire, maybe Salisbury or Marlborough in a more rural village.
Great rail links.
