Commute from Godalming / Guildford / Farnham

We are moving to the Surrey area this summer, my daughter is going to a school in Bramley and my son to a school in Farnham. My husband has to commute into the city. Any advice on the best place for us to site ourselves, I would like my husband to be able to walk to a station and get a seat. We are thinking of Godalming. If he wanted to travel in from Guildford but we lived outside how would he get to the station?. Thanks in advance.

I commute from Godalming and usually manage to get a seat. I walk to the station, parking is not good at the station, there's a long waiting list for a parking season ticket. I occasionally drive to farncombe as parking can be easier.

I like living here and find commuting to the city no problem, so many people do it here.

Farnham is very nice, and a bit cheaper than Guildford. It's a good commute- about an hour. People like Godalming too, and Guildford has more going on. They are all very attractive towns, to be honest.

Farncombe an option. Godalming OK. Can't always get a seat on the way but depending when coming back has to be prepared to stand unless you can get to station about 15 mins before departure time.

You will never get a seat on a train from guildford! But it's a great town otherwise.
