Commute - Nottingham/Loughborough

I'm looking at a job based near Alexandra Park in Nottingham. My husband works in Loughborough.

We are considering places to live, but don't want to be in the middle of nowhere. We'd like to be able to go out without an extortionate taxi fare! We'd like easy access to local amenities either walking or by car. Schools/nurseries aren't relevant now but we would be starting a family in the next few years.

We had considered living in Loughborough but unsure how long the commute to Nottingham would be in rush hour.

Any recommendations on the commute and areas to live would be appreciated.

we used to live in Beeston - lovely suburb of Nottingham, good schools & parks, walking to the station with trains to Loughborough (and London), and on the tram route into Nottingham. Take a look at that?

Thanks, will have a look. Husband will drive to Loughborough. What's the traffic like getting to the Alexandra Park area during rush hour?

We would be relocating and this I'm finding quite scary. Loughborough has the advantage that we know people there

Beeston isn't great for commuting to Loughborough, he'd be looking at 1hr 15-1hr 30 at least, the traffic gets very heavy around lenton lane etc.

West Bridgford or ruddington may work if you work in Nottingham. The traffic is more an issue for getting into Nottingham in the morning and then leaving Nottingham in the evening, so ideally you'd want to live in Nottingham rather than nearer Loughborough.

What about East Leake? They have a bus service to Nottingham for nights out and it's a large village.
