double oven / single / combination?! Advice please

We are planning a new configuration of the kitchen and have a dilemma regarding ovens. We currently have a built in double oven and a microwave in a cupboard (not on show). The top oven (oven with grill) doesn't work particularly well - not sure if it's the model / fault.

I had thought of having 2 built in single ovens side by side but we're limited on space and kitchen planner has suggested I go for double oven again or single oven plus micro combination oven (in one tower unit).

Day to day we only use one oven and probably use a microwave every other day. There is space for microwave to go in utility room. I do quite like entertaining though so I do want more than one oven.

Any advice?

Defo go for double and stick micro in the utility room. I never realised how useful a double was for big meals/gatherings until we got ours. Makes christmas day so much easier having yhem both on different temps.
Our microwave was built into a cupboard but not hidden -you can see the front screen and the controls, but keeps the workspace free. Is that an option for you?

We've got a double oven with grill on top oven and it is absolutely fine-is sounds like you've been unlucky with your current one.

I find my double oven really useful. Day to day I tend to just use the smaller top oven but when I have people over for dinner both ovens are in full use, usually with main course cooking in large oven and smaller oven on a lower temperature for the dessert.

Both ovens on mine are equally effective. One is fan and the other convection which I like as I think some things come out better using convection than fan.

I was recently looking at getting one of those ovens with the combined microwave and oven in the top - until I realised that they cost as much as we were planning to spend on all of the other kitchen appliances combined! We went for a double oven.

I have a double oven and the microwave shoved in the utility room. I prefer the microwave in there, and if not be without s double oven.

We have two singles side by side with ba integral grill in each. Best thing ever.

We went for two single ovens stacked, the top one has a slide n'hide door so short arse me can still use it easily, bottom one is a regular door. It's a fab combination.
It replaced a double oven and works much better for us.

I'm a nanny and boss has a microwave within her oven and grill, Neff I think, complete waste of time. If the oven on you can't use the microwave and have to wait till cool to use it. It's not big enough to put a roasting tray and another tray in it. I hate using it.

I have a large floor standing hob cooker with double ovens underneath and grill in the top of one of the ovens. I have a microwave built into the tower opposite the ovens on the other side of a narrow kitchen.

I find the microwave is used a lot for defrosting, warming plates, heating liquids, while I am cooking so would not stick it in a cupboard or a utility room.

I am planning a new kitchen in another house in a large square room that is not currently a kitchen. The idea I am going for is the classic long rectangular central island with preparation surface, sink and induction hob side by side then fridges, freezers, 2 ovens, coffee maker and microwave stacked in an appliance wall that will be directly behind me as I am working at the island. This minimises walking while cooking as you just have to turn round and walk one step from the island to all your appliances and no bending down to put things n or take things out of ovens.

I would not have a separate hob with ovens under again. You do need two ovens though.

Ooh, I didn't even know you could get 2 single ovens stacked.

I prefer the look of 2 ovens side by side but I'm worried about losing work surface space.

I have a big kitchen but little wall space as we have loads of windows so stacking them was the only solution that allowed me to have 2 ovens without bending down.

Did you have to have a custom fit cupboard made Wonkylegs?

My whole kitchen was made by joiners so is completely bespoke (it worked out better as its quite an awkward space and that meant everything was usable and there are no filler pieces which is what all the kitchen shops offered me) but I've seen it done in off the shelf kitchens so you must be able to do it if not going down that route.

I was in a very similar situation. I loved my old double wall mounted oven, but in my new kitchen I didn't really have the wall space for one. Under counter doubles are just too small in my opinion so I toyed with the idea of putting a second oven in the utility. This would have been annoying so as my last option I then started looking at range cookers.

I'd never been interested in ranges, and thought they were more like agas. But they are somewhere in between. Some are just glorified ovens, but just cost a bit more :-C.

I range coker is more compact then two under counter ovens. I had a space of 130cm, so opted for a 100cm range with two 15cm width spice racks either side. The range has a large and small over, but even the small one can take my large iron cooking pot, so it's quite a good size. I also didn't realise how amazing spice racks were until now too.

I like the range, it works with the kitchen and makes the worktop look more generous. I still prefer eye height ovens, but two large ovens are nice also. Plus I do love wok hobs they are awesome.

We have a built in oven and oven microwave. They are both brilliant, really useful and space saving.

Double oven is the way to go if you grill a lot. due to splatter from grilling if in a normal oven when you use it as a oven you'll end up with a lot of smoke even if you clean them all the time.
