If you have a "DIY Kitchens" Kitchen, can I ask which range you have?

I have the Luca Matt White (handleless) and love the design of the kitchen (slab door, matt, handleless). Its been installed about 18 months and we are now planning some extension work which will mean I have to add to the kitchen or change it.

I think because of the type of cupboards (i.e. a pull out bin next to an integrated dishwasher, next to a normal cupboard - instead of say 4 cupboards / drawers all of the same type next to each other - and because the doors came fixed to the units) the tiny gaps between the cupboard doors are not quite uniform. My H doesn't notice, but it drives me insane. I think it really spoils the overall finish of the kitchen.

I think the issue is more visible because I chose the black/brown carcass for the cupboards and because the handleless design means the top of the cupboard is cut away a little, so the black/brown carcass is ever so slightly visible against the white door (if that makes sense).

I'm just wondering whether anyone else has this issue, whether its just a design fault (i.e in the way I planned the kitchen / carcass colour) or whether its maybe down to poor installation.

If I'm going to spend even more money on the kitchen again, I want to be happy with the results. Any advice?

I went for the Langham bespoke painted in farrow and ball Dympse. I went for the grey cabinets which matched the Dympse perfectly. I too was a bit in trepidation as to would the units match the doors, would the units be seen? I also had a wine rack which came in the grey and thought it might stand out but it matches beautifully. I can't really tell where my doors end and the cabinet begins. I can't tell if that is down to the kitchen fitters.

We are no where near Yorkshire so viewed the kitchen at a local kitchen shop. I don't recall seeing the cabinet colour behind the door so it might just be the fitting. Don't know where you are but you can usually find your kitchen being sold locally and I would go along and view the kitchen fitted in the shop and see if they have the same issues.

We've got Luca in Dakar, but have matching carcasses. As far as I can remember, the gaps are uniform. I'll try to remember to check this evening when I get home, although I'm not sure we have different types of cupboards next to each other. DH is a bit of a perfectionist, so I'd be surprised if the gaps were not uniform or he'd have spotted it and said something.

Usually the 'straightness' of kitchen cupboard doors can be adjusted by adjusting the hinges - would that help?

You might be able to re finished the front carcass edging either with paint or white iron on edging perhaps ?

We had this issue but solved it by adjusting the hinges on the doors slightly so that the gaps were even. The problem bit for us was a run where we had a pull out unit, then our integrated washing machine, then a couple of cupboards. Adjusting the WM hinge fixed it. Ours is a DIY-kitchens too, also handle-less.

We have a DIY- kitchen. I decided to go for a colour that I could match a carcass too (graphite) as I noticed it as a problem in the show room. As I'm short I often get a different angle on these things!! I had planned to have a F&B coloured one - but realised you'd get a glimpse of wooden interior. As people said above - the evenness of gaps should be adjustable by the hinges. (Not sure if any of that is helpful)

Janeedwards I'm very happy with our kitchen from DIY Kitchens, but they don't offer a design service, so you have to measure up and plan your kitchen yourself. It took me quite a while to work out what was the best use of space, so I guess it depends how much time you can put in and how much of a hurry you're in.

Janewards I went to a few places like Wickes, wren etc who designed the kitchen then went off the "photo" to order from DIY Kitchens although I knew what I wanted and where I wanted it, it was to make sure it fitted and looked right before I ordered.

DIY Kitchens don't offer a design service but there is a cool PDF planner here which is on their advice site. I have a Luca matt white kitchen, much better than gloss. The gaps on the handleless kitchen between doors can be adjusted on the hinges.
