Where do we begin - installing downstairs toilet/shower?

Can anyone offer some advice please?
I want to put in a downstairs toilet with a possible shower.
The hallway is very spacious so this is a possible location?

I have not got a clue about DIY and do not know where to begin . So would be getting someone to do it but how do I even get to that stage. Can anyone give me a pointer in how to go about this please?
And any idea as to a rough cost. thanks.

I'd start by talking to a couple of plumbers as they will be the ones who can tell you if it's actually possible (the main issue is whether they can get a soil pipe to your hallway otherwise you will have to get a macerator wc which no one seems to like very much). So, where in your house are the other loos? If directly above the hall location, then that means the soil pipe should be quite close. Is your hall carpeted and, if so, can a corner of the carpet be pulled up so that the plumbers can see if you have a solid concrete floor or, if it is a wooden suspended floor, which way the joists run?

So, first step, call in a couple of plumbers who have been recommended to you by friends and see if they think a loo and shower in your hall is feasible.

Don't get a Saniflo.

If it is impossible to connect to a soilpipe, consider a bucket in the garden.

Thank you we will get some plumbers round. I have a feeling the soil pipe may be a problem. As the toilet/bathroom is not directly above where we want the toilet. We don't particularly want a macerated so here's hoping it can be sorted.

We have a saniflo and it has actually been fine . We had a cloakroom put in under our stairs 15 years ago and haven't had any major problems. We did have to get the saniflo engineer out once last year as macerator wouldn't turn off but that is only problem in that time.
