Ok, first of all can anyone take me through what a surveyor will want to look at, how they value and also how long usually before they come round after you have accepted an offer.

We agreed a sale on the Monday. Purchaser's surveyor contacted the estate agent to arrange the survey on the Thursday. Survey took place the following Monday. We got the estate agents to give the surveyor access.

The survey on the place we are buying takes place on Monday. Our mortgage application has taken about a week to process (DP has done a lot of pushing) and the surveyors were in contact almost as soon as we had passed the credit and affordability tests.

I was hoping to gain some sort of average, or find the quickest it had been arranged as we don't want one for a while as we are making improvements first.
Went on the market today.

What improvements are you making? Lots of things you may do at this stage will not make a jot of difference to the valuation and will just create extra work on top of tidying and cleaning before viewings.
