Solutions to fitted wardrobes with no doors -preferably cheap?

If anyone can help with this I will be forever grateful.
We moved into a 70s semi two years ago and no one room is finished , I have recently been made redundant and have started to notice everything, I would like to do stuff myself but if not DH is pretty good DiY /building wise.
Dd1s room really needs some work. We removed fitted doors (horrible chip board things ) to fit a dark den but have since removed it and thought we would replace the doors but I am getting quotes of £300 for this. I think they would need to be made to measure as they don't seem to be standard size .
Any ideas ? Can't do a curtain over as Dd is scared of the creases they make (she has autism ) . Any other ideas very gratefully received as I hate looking at her messy cupboard , it's not even carpeted in the recess bit so looks really scruffy.

Have you tried the IKEA Pax range? They're not made to measure but come in various shapes and sizes - 2 different heights from memory.

You may need to look at a combination, and maybe make some alterations depending on what size you are trying to fit, but they are cheap and OK quality.

Can you fit something like a roller blind?

I know a place that makes them to size in a wide range, they mostly do kitchens. £300 sounds very reasonable though.

I have a similar problem with my built in cupboard doors. They all need replacing but are over height at about 2150mm - I don't want to use chip board or ply as they might warp. I've had a look online but can only see made to measure which seem a bit pricey as I've 10 doors to replace.

Could you pull the entire cupboard out and repaper or replaster the walls and paint? Ah, I suppose not if not carpeted unless you want to recarpet the whole room.

Make what is now the wardrobe into a nice seating area, or put shelves/drawers inside it? How deep is it? I'm thinking that a fitted wardrobe is a bit of a waste of space for children's clothes as a wardrobe.

How about those beaded curtains, would she be okay with one of those?

The door height would need to be 197cms tall I think but I will look at pax thank you , would be great if we could do that.
Interesting idea on roller blinds , would it be too big a space do you think ? Think the dimensions are 197x 155.
Beaded curtain is a good idea too I would never have thought of that. I'm not sure how she'd be but may be worth exploring.

The whole room needs recarpetting anyway so perhaps we should carpet it .. At the moment its got two chests of drawers on top of each other which is part of what is bugging me but we could change that.

Ikea even have a feature on their front page - not sure if hanging clothes would be the same problem as curtains, though?

Their Stuva stuff (in kids age 8-14) is lovely but might be a bit expensive.

standard doors are available 1981 high x various widths, nearest would be 762mm, a pair would do with a bit of lining on the frames.

You could get hollow flush or moulded. They look like house internal doors but are very light. To reduce the height, you cut the bottom off and remove the batten inside, then refix it into the new bottom of the door. You can usually reduce by 6mm off any edge. More solid versions are heavier and more expensive.

Examples here but there are billions to choose from, you might get something to match the room door. Any DIY or builders shed has the popular sizes, you might need to order the less common ones.

Flush Doors are flat, and cheapest. You can paint them to match the walls if you like.

Thank you Bertie and pigletjohn , I hadn't thought about cutting to size or adding to the wardrobe to adapt . May be a bit beyond me but will see if DH thinks he could sort it, I think my preference is to have it covered but I like the option of filling it in a more attractive way too.

Hanging clothes may have the same effect that's a good point so poss better to cover but the ikea units are at least more ordered to look at

What about a net/sheer curtain stretched tightly across (maybe stuck down to dowling rod) with weights in the hem so it falls without creases?

Then have a hook or something at the side so you can just drape it out the way (rather than pulling so it bunches in creases)

Hello thank you -unfortunately the curtain thing is always a focus of obsession so i think has to be left out of it completely otherwise that would have been great but thank you for your reply.
I actually had the thought of a screen type thing ! Not sure if she'd accept it or if it would be dangerous but a dressing screen type thing ? DH thinks we should just get a sliding door fitted but he hasn't looked into tue measurements like I have!

You could do simple sliding panel - sort of half of this:

If you look at the top, it seem pretty simple in terms of fittings.

You could hang several roller blinds - maybe even in different colours - that could look really interesting. There's a picture of roller blind fronts here

I have never heard of sliding panels before .
We have a broken blind (from over use ) in her window but I'm still tempted as both panels or sliding panels would look good there I thjbk and fit with the room in terms of look
