If so, was it OK? Was it reasonably priced in comparison to Wickes or B and Q etc?

We are to buy ikea cabinets but we will not have them fit them. I googled extensively and while the kitchens themselves have good reviews, the fitters do not. We found an independent builder to use which everyone says is the way to go

I used a local chippy to fit mine.
He did an excellent job.

Had ikea kitchens- they are great but always used local joiner.

My builders fitted it, complaining all the way that it was different from 'standard': deeper cabinets hence no empty space at the back to run pipes and the like. But they were happy enough and did a good job and I'm still happy 8 years later.

I saved £5k by not using the ikea fitters..... Local chap £1800 ikea was approaching £7k! They are in a captive market but seriously I object to paying more than the unit cost to fit! Very happy with the kitchen though and I ordered appliances and marble worktops separately so that I got exactly what I wanted. Good luck!
