Moving to Plymouth???

Hi all, I am looking at moving to Plymouth from the New Forest but finding it hard deciding an area to live in.
I have a 7 & 15 year old & torn between living in Stoke (love the 3 story period houses) or further out.
Any advise from parents with same age children would be great!

Stoke and Peverell both nice family areas in city. Derriford also nice but more modern new-build estates . Plympton and Plymstock are nice enough as suburbs but schools/ doctors very over subscribed. Lots of nice villages right on the outskirts.
