Waterproof membrane in basement... Can I put shelves up?

I'm hoping somebody might be able to shed some light on this for us.

Our basement had a new waterproof membrane put in this time last year, just before we moved in. From what I can tell (the hole around the fuse box) we have a layer of plaster board then the waterproofing stuff and then the bricks.

Is there any way that we can put shelves up in this situation without wrecking the waterproofing? There is an old well right next to the basement and previously it was very damp (apparently, next door have the same set-up)

Sounds very similar to the setup in my old house. Our builder warned us not to. We got some shelving units from ikea in the end, you can pretty much build whatever configuration you need using ranges like besta, billy or kallax.

Our plan is to turn the basement into a playroom and for it to be completely child safe down there so we can leave them if we have to answer the door, go for a wee etc. (DCs are 3 and 1.5)

DS is a climber so I would feel happier if floor standing units could be wall mounted at the top to stop them tipping. Might have to ceiling mount them - is that possible?!

Hmm, just been tapping the ceiling, it's not strong enough.

By the looks of it an ikea stuva wardrobe would fit snugly in our little alcove. I could put the doors on with a child-proof catch and have shelves inside it.

At the moment the room is my craft room, but it doesn't get used much. I'm trying to find a way to at least keep a bit of it for me, but for the kids to have most of it. Dog crate is currently u set the stairs, but I'm thinking some sort of partition wall and to turn that into an under stairs craft bolt-hole. Might mean there isn't anywhere to put the dog crate though

I really don't want to give up my space!! But the kids will love it. We're going to get it all ready for them for Christmas morning

the ceiling is fixed to the joists for the floor above. You can screw to those. Feel for the line of nails fixing the plasterboard to the joists. your fingertips will detect them, even if skimmed over. Mark with pencil. They are probably at centres of about 400mm.

By the looks of it they didn't re-do the ceiling when they out the waterproofing in. Looks like they just plastered over it again, there's no feel able nails, but I can hear / feel the difference in the springiness of the ceiling where the joists are.

I'll have to have a think about it all. The safest option is probably to partition off a portion of the room, but how to do that if I can attach anything to the walls is going to be interesting. we have a playpen that can be a room divider, but again it needs fixing to the walls.
