Tiling on a suspended floor?

As the title suggests, we have suspended floors and would like to tile the hallway and kitchen. Is this possible or do we need to resign ourselves to wood flooring or amtico/karndean?

Our bathroom floor is tiled. I think they had to put hardboard or plywood down first and then tiled on top of it, so think it should be possible.

My main worry is that loads of our pipe work is under the floor so if something goes wrong then it would be a nightmare to rectify.

Not that any other material is particularly easy to pull up
