Talk some sense into me...

We live in a converted Victorian stone barn. It was converted by the people we bought it from and looks like a 90's new build on the inside. We are having some work done around the window reveals and had hoped that once the plasterboard came off the stone and brick underneath would be good enough to leave revealed. Photos attached of what we have found. Builder says nope needs re plaster boarding , I agreed initially but have spent all afternoon staring at it and feel a bit sad at the prospect of covering it up again. It would need a lot of cleaning up and repointing and might still just look like a hole in a wall. Photos attached from one window . Anyone got any views?

Sorry - I agree with the builder - think it might look a little unfinished if it's the only 'rustic ' bit in the whole place !

I agree with the builder. Looks a bit too rustic and I'd want some insulation on my outside wall. But it's your house.

Sorry, I wasn't very clear but it's not just that window, it's either side of a set of French doors in the living room, either side of the front door and either side of a window in the living room.
