what is the seller playing at?

I am feeling very frustrated here. We happened across a house we love, which isn't easy with our requirements. We put in an offer but it wasn't even considered because they were only accepting offers from people in a position to proceed. We then had a whirlwind two weeks where we got our house tidy, photographed, marketed and amazingly sold. So went back with our offer. In the mean time the asking price of the property we want went down to an offers over amount. We offered just over the amount. Next day we hear that the owner of our wanted house, who has already vacated, has a family friend who is interested,so wants a few days to consider the offer. Then within an hour my zoopla email alert pinged, the house we want has just been put on the market with another agent along side the original.
That was at the end of last week. Yesterday I spoke to the agent again and said that our offer would stand for a further 48 hours but that was it. The agent said he hadn't spoken to the seller since he had last spoken to me. No news currently on from that.

What is the seller doing? The house we want originally went on the market before the summer so I don't get why they are not responding to our offer now.

Who knows? At a guess, he has been smooched by a rival agent who has said he can get him a higher price/faster sale. Occasionally the more wide-boy agencies clone details of houses that already on the market to make it look as if they have a better selection.

It does sound as if, even if your offer is accepted, it is going to be a hellish process to get to completion. Pre-emptive Wine
