The title explaines everything.

I can get hot water from the tap only if i put the heating on. It is a combi boiler and i dont know who i should call.
Will i have to replace the boiler?

No advice but we have this. We just turn the heating on every time we want a shower or to do the washing up and turn it off again after.

It's been like this for years and the boiler's not broken yet!

We get this. Before it was the heat exchanger which had got all blocked up. This was replaced and sorted it.

Could also be a diverter valve. That's the extent of my gas engineering knowledge I'm afraid.

Unlikely you will need to replace boiler. You may need to actually get engineer from the boiler company to fix though. We ended up having to do that as the first one we used couldn't fix the problem.

Can you just turn the radiators off?

probably the diverter valve and your gas-safe boiler mender can mend it

No need to buy a new boiler

I had a similar problem and it was the diaphragm. I had to tell British Gas that after they failed to fix the problem after 7 visits!
