Lighting to go over kitchen island

Last one for this evening. Promise :). Substantial kitchen island, nothing on it except workspace. Have you seen or recently bought any statement or pendant lighting to go above an island that looks amazing but doesn't cost the earth?!

Ikea have some, what about three smaller ones.

gabbybaby · 31/10/2015 20:03

Nothing in Ikea inspires me! Looking for something that makes more of a statement without paying 100s per light!

What sort of style/colour? Multiples or one big one?

gabbybaby · 01/11/2015 06:31

Three pendant lights, like Vulcan suggested, just something a bit different. There are some gorgeous ones in Heals, but they're so expensive, like these www.heals.com/fly-pendant.html, or these: www.heals.com/melt-pendant.html, or these: www.heals.com/mirror-ball-pendant.html. There are loads I salivate over in Heals, but I can't afford them!

Just place marking as I am after the same (in a bit). The heals ones are fab

Hiahia · 01/11/2015 07:54

Try West Elm.

Iwantvino · 01/11/2015 08:00

Have you tried made.com? You might find something similar to heals but cheaper.

Karcheer · 01/11/2015 08:15

Is there anything here? we got 3 lights from them earlier in the year and can recommend both price and service.

sleepwhenidie · 01/11/2015 08:22

Are they to be the main source of light over the island OP, or is there additional overhead lighting? Personally I love the Melt pendants but the light would be too soft over my island as it is the only source (glass roof). Just something to consider Smile.

gabbybaby · 01/11/2015 09:19

Thanks for the ideas. Sleepwhenidie - no, it's not the only source of light. We'll have normal recessed spotlights in the rest of the room.
There are some really good suggestions here so thanks all. Unfortunately all the ones I love the most are the really expensive ones! I could make an exception to buy one, but can't buy 3 at those prices! Any other suggestions appreciated. I'm going to check them all out.

I bought some Nordlux nexus ones in a charcoal grey - there were other colours too and Nordlux has a good range. All my lighting came from lightingdirect
Garden trading company also has some.

Chapsie · 01/11/2015 09:25

They aren't my only source of lighting either and look fab in the evenings to accent the island while main kitchen lights are off. We call it our 'bar'

Chapsie · 01/11/2015 09:25

What about the Nordlux Funk if you want colours

blushingbelinda · 01/11/2015 12:18

Bhs have some nice ones.

Hiahia · 02/11/2015 08:47

hem.com/en-gb/shop/lighting/?ref=home.home.mob_subnav_lighting some really cool ones there.
