So where is the cheapest place to buy in London?

It depends on so many factors. House or flat? How do you define London (eg commutable, within M25, close to Tube station, zone 4, in a London borough...)? Do you need a mortgage? And so on and on.

For a 2- or 3-bed family house, I'd say Plumstead.

Barking & Dagenham is the cheapest borough. Ilford, Barking, East Ham, Thamesmead, Romford, Abbey Wood are places that tend to come up at the lower end of the London market.
