Paint for dark hall, stairway &!landing

Could anyone recommend a paint / type of paint for our dark hallway please?

Do I just go for white?

Any pointers would be appreciated X

We had approx 1 gazillion tester pots up in ours. I wanted grey but it looked very battleshippy and cold. We ended up with natural calico - basically a magnolia variant. I think white could be nice but we wanted something a little warmer.

I am a big fan of soft pastels for adding warmth and light - we have a very soft pale green in our hall and stairs. However, Dulux do a range specifically for adding light and space which may be exactly what you need?:

Thank you x I hadn't thought about warmth, it would be nice to find a warm colour.

We also have this in a few rooms and it is a lovely warm bluey green - very light and quite a happy colour.

Borrowed Light and Blackened from F and B light up duller areas. Warmer tones would include Pointing and Great White. Quartz Grey and Chalk from Designers Guild would also work.

I've seen advice before saying if you have a dark room/space then don't fight it. I.e. paint it a darker / dramatic colour. Having a dark hallway opening up into light rooms is meant to look pretty good. Having said that I don't think I'm brave enough to try it! I am though contemplating painting a dark living room in Little Greene's Grey Teal, which is quite a dark grey.

In the hallways of previous houses we've had - 1) a combination of dark grey and yellow (over fifteen years ago so very ahead of the current fashion for grey ), 2) a dark William Morris green and 3) F&B Brinjal......but the caveat being that these were quite spacious hallways and all except one had a large window on the landing which helped brighten things up!

Current hallway will be much lighter - despite having three much smaller windows - probably F&B skimming stone or French grey - but that's mainly because we intend to sell when this project house is finished - normally I'm the first one to advocate embracing the darker spaces.

I haven't painted mine yet, but I have basically just stairs with a hallway and landing big enough to allow a door to open safely, so pretty tiny. I am considering doing a sort of ombré effect in a warm neutral, starting out dark by the front door and getting paler as you go higher. I suspect that ombré is a bit too daddy though, so I'll probably just end up going for a fairly nondescript neutral like that Fulux one with truffle in the title that everyone raves about.

I'm not keen on pale colours in dark spaces. I tried that before and it just looked dull.

This is what we have at the moment, light pic is near the front door & and up in the landing..you can SIL how dark it looks up there. I can see your point about white, could look bland.

I second Skimming Stone, it's pale but a proper colour IYKWIM
