Clicking hob ignition? Any BTDT advice?

Not one of my better mornings but I spilled a mahoosive mug of tea around the hob and the gas ignition started sparking on its own (normally a push button manuever)
I've obviously turned the switch off and after some googling there is some hope that it may dry out on its own or not. Anyone with any experience of this?

Read the instructions about how to clean it.

Round the burners, a small paintbrush moistened with warm water and WUL will loosen most dirt, but they have no drains so you must sponge it all away.

If the liquid actually got into the switch, there is a good chance the switch will need replacing, even if it dries out. It will not be a "user serviceable" part.

My Neff hob has been doing this for years and my efforts to clean it have failed to cure the problem. I will be very interested if you find a solution.
