Moving to Cavell Court, Bishop's Stortford - advice needed

Hi. I am planning to buy a house in Cavell Court in Bishop's Stortford but do not know much about that area so wanted to tap into local knowledge. The area looks nice and very quite, and an easy walk to the train station for DH's commute into London.

Any good/ bad views on that area in general?

From the local authority searches etc, I found out that the road is unadopted but there is a management company that deals with the maintenance of the area (?).

Does anyone know anything of this, and whether I am putting myself at risk with large roadwork bills in future?

Also, I saw that the price for all the houses there dropped from 10 years ago (2006 land registry entries). Anyone has a clue why this happened?

Your advice is most welcomed please.

Bishop's Stortford is a great place to live. The Cavell Court area has always seemed nice to me (I've walked through several times), certainly seems quite quiet during the day and I can't imagine that there would be any issues at night either. Also near to some really excellent schools and walkable into town. I have 3 friends who have lived within a 5-10 minute walk of there, and all have been happy. I'm not totally sure, but wouldn't 10 years ago have been about when the houses were built so prices reflect new house premiums? Maybe it was before that - I can't quite remember! Don't know too much about us adopted roads though, only that I recall once being told that nearby Stansted has the highest proportion of unadapted roads than anywhere else in the country - and people still seem happy to buy property there.
