Mum ripped off by gardener

My mum is finally getting our childhood home up on the market. She doesn't have much money (part of the problem) but borrowed a bit to fund some essential bits being done ready for it to go up next week. One of these things was clearing the garden. The gardener did this on weds Thurs and Fri last week and said he would take rubbish on Monday. Mum paid him when she saw him on Friday but hasn't heard a peep since and he's ignored her texts asking him to take away the waste she paid him to remove.

What should we do? I'm furious and want to ring him up and give him a piece of my mind but my mum isn't keen on that. Also want to leave him a couple of terrible reviews online. Can't believe he's done this to my poor mum who's struggling with this big life event anyway!

Of course you should phone him. I can't stand pisstakers.

Was he recommended by someone?

Yes - ring him. And be there when he collects the stuff if you can. He's exploiting the vulnerable. Git.

Definitely call him!
He's not completed the job for which he has been paid.
Also, remind your Mum not to part with any money until any jobs have been completed in full. Bless her.

...and also ask for information on the tip he is taking it too, and any license to dispose of waste. Flytipping?
